INVITATION: Welcome to Sweden's first travel hackathon!
NB: This is a past event!
Amadeus is welcoming developers, designers, travel experts and entrepreneurs from across Europe to Stockholm to take part in a 54-hours travel hackathon, 12-14 May 2017. The purpose? To create a fertile ground for the next Klarnas and Spotifys of travel tech. Come along and join us!
The Startup Weekend Travel Edition is organised by Amadeus in collaboration with Startup Weekend. During the three-day event, you will develop an idea from scratch and pitch it to mentors and potential investors. Teams organically form around the top ideas and then it’s a 54-hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. This is a great opportunity to learn a new skill, meet a co-founder and give a serious kick start to your idea!
Besides providing company experts as mentors to the teams, Amadeus is also offering the winner of the best start-up idea a golden opportunity to take his/her idea to the next level.
“The winning team will get access to our experts and technology as well as the chance to test their solution and business model with our global customer network,” says Tatiana Solodko, Business Development Manager at Amadeus Scandinavia.

Why is this activity so close to Amadeus’ heart?
Part of the reason is because the Nordics dominate the top 15 of the world’s most innovative economies, with Sweden at the second place. However, we don’t see many revolutionary or disruptive start-ups in travel tech coming from our countries. Out of the 10 Swedish start-ups which made it on to Wired’s list of the hottest start-ups in Europe, not a single one was related to travel.
“We believe there are lots of good ideas out there and want to support them. Hopefully, this hackathon will create interest for travel tech and lay the foundation for a strong travel tech community” says Jesper Söderström, CEO at Amadeus Scandinavia.
